MALLNITZ & SURROUNDINGS.

Mallnitz is the right place for those who are aware that you can combine a nature loving appetite and deep relaxation. The municipality in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park has less than 1000 inhabitants, but there is a lot on offer. Due to its proximity to the Ankogel mountain, there are plenty of opportunities.

In summer, the Tauern Region beckons as a hiking paradise. From comfortable excursions to challenging summit ascents, there's something for everyone here. There is a wide range of activities for cyclists, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts – from rafting to canyoning and wakeboarding.

In winter, the snow-covered surroundings entice guests to try snowshoeing, tobogganing and cross-country skiing. The ski areas Ankogel and Mölltal glacier can be reached directly by ski bus and those who need even more kilometres of slopes under their belt, there is always the option of getting on the train and going directly to the ski resort of Bad Gastein.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

The cross-country ski run lets you forget about everyday life – all that matters is the fresh air and movement. The cross-country trails in Mallnitz are 50 km (25km scating, 25 km classic) long and have been awarded the Carinthian cross-country skiing seal. A variety of winter hiking trails and snowshoe hikes are also possible.

SKI & SKI TOURING

29 tours, 164 km and 34,734 meters of altitude can be mastered here by both beginners and advanced tourers. The ski touring areas of Ankogel, Häusleralm, Tauerntal and Dösental are considered snow-sure and offer first-class powder snow. In spring, the region is known for having perfect firn conditions.

TOBOGGANING

Tobogganing allows us all to be children again for a few hours. At 4 km, Mallnitz is the longest toboggan run in Carinthia. Apart from the toboggan taxi, there are no vehicles here and fun for young and old is guaranteed. Sledges can of course also be borrowed.

ART & CULTURE

Pro Musica Mallnitz - classical music festival in the Hohe Tauern National Park. WATER

Water is the largest treasure of the National Park region. Quiet lakes invite you to linger, rushing waterfalls awaken the spirit of adventure. Let your soul dangle at Lake Stappitz while your children run around to their heart’s content in the leisure area, enjoy the peace and quiet while fishing at the river Möll or discover the rough sides of the water while rafting or canyoning. In the wild water arena Mölltal even professionals get their money's worth.

WALKING & HIKING

Taking yourself off to the mountains with a backpack is one of the best things you can do for your body and mind. Mallnitz offers 150 km of hiking trails at 3 different altitudes. Easy valley walks are possible as well as challenging tours in the summit region.

MOUNTAINBIKE

More than 10 mountain bike trails with different levels of difficulty start directly in Mallnitz. In the centre of the village there is also a bicycle rental, from which you can rent bikes for day tours. If you want to approach the sport in a more relaxed manner, you can also rent e-bikes here, whose batteries can also be charged at our campsite.

MOBILITY & ARRIVAL

Flexibility and freedom of movement are among the most important things in order to enjoy your holiday. The Alpine Pearls municipality of Mallnitz, which will include us in the near future, want to honour this feeling in a special way, by enabling you to arrive without a car or by allowing you to leave your car on the site whilst still giving you the possibility to easily reach your desired excursion destinations.

KNOWLEDGE

The visitor centre in Mallnitz is the ideal entry point to get to know the Hohe Tauern National Park – with all its fauna and flora. Research and experimentation is carried out with the little ones both in the Ranger labs and in the wild. The acquired knowledge can then be turned into adventure through excursions into the park, providing an experience for the whole family.
